Building Trust: Effective Window Leak Testing

BEPG was obtained by Findorff construction company to assist in providing functional performance testing for recently installed and waterproofed windows of a new office building located just southwest of the City of Madison, Wisconsin.

The new facility was constructed with high end materials to include the exterior air barrier, high-end residential windows, and window flashing membrane. BEPG personnel conducted both air infiltration and water penetration testing in accordance with ASTM Standards E783 and E1105 for field testing. One of the windows was located just above ground level and the other was on the third floor.

BEPG’s engagement included reviewing product data sheets from the manufacturer, window section details, and shop drawing submittals to ensure the windows were installed according to contract documents, and the windows were tested at the proper pressures to meet the project requirements.
