McGowan Architecture retained Building Envelope Professionals Group (BEPG) to conduct a pre-design assessment of the limestone panel cladding at the Elvehjem Museum building at UW Madison.
BEPG produced a drone-based, 3d photogrammetry model to conduct initial visual assessments of the cladding. This model was then used to develop elevation drawings to label each stone on the building. Combined with manual assessment and laboratory testing, the condition of all the stone was graded to determine if the existing stone was suitable for reuse.
